The Department of Economics was founded in 2001 at the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations, with the following specialties:
- Public procurement,
- Economic international relations.
Over the years, having a beneficial evolutionary ascendance, the department becomes the foundation of the current “Economics” faculty, established in 2010. At present, the Faculty of Economics is active within the University of European Political and Economic Studies “Constantin Stere” from 2009 with its own building, located in the center of the capital. Students have modern rooms, computer classes, with access to the global Internet network, library, medical office, etc.
In 2015, USPEE “C.Stere” is subject to scientific accreditation in the field of “Sustainable Development of the Republic of Moldova through Correlated Economic and Ecological Policies”, which is being passed at excellent level and on August 26, 2016 the National Council for Attestation and Accreditation of the Republic of Moldova assigns the accreditation certificate Series A no. 011, with the qualification “International Competitive Organization”, B Category, valid until June 24, 2020.
As a result of these successive transformations, USPEE “Constantin Stere”, and implicitly our faculty, has become a strong higher education institution, which has financial independence and freedom in promoting its own policy, which, in general, seeks to reinvigorate the training academic process from the Republic of Moldova and the integration of higher education in the European Higher Education Space.
The faculty of Economic Sciences of USPEE “C. Stere” is one of the most dynamic faculties in terms of educational programs, number of students, teacher training and the modernization of the whole educational process.
The Business and Administration and Accounting programs are described by packages of documents that include: the general and specific objectives of the program; the educational plan with the weight of subjects expressed through study credits; subjects whose scheduling is correlated with the objectives of the study program; academic records – with specific objectives, content, examining and assessing skills. There is a concern to increase the flexibility of vocational training by introducing optional and complementary subjects’ packages. The content of the study program is constantly updated by training new knowledge resulting from scientific research, including its own. The relevance of the study program is defined by the connection with market requirements, their compliance with national and European standards. In the process of teaching-learning-evaluation, the student-centered approach has been taken. Mechanisms and tools have been created to get feedback from students, the social and economic environment, and from graduates, all aimed at improving the quality management system.
We are proud with an exceptional professional teaching staff, experienced scientists, but also young people with excellent professional competence: Lilia Chiriac, PhD, associate professor; Cristina Copăceanu, PhD, associate professor; Larisa Dodu-Gugea, PhD, associate professor; Aurelia Gribincea-Duca, PhD, associate professor; Nicolae Prodan, PhD, associate professor, and others.
Maintaining efficiency and scientific performance, ensuring a quality education process, using laboratories, strong research centers, equipped to the European standard, are just a few of the merits of our faculty.
